Getting So into Shawn Mendes’ Music

As it’s the New Year I was interested in finding some new artists to listen to, and I was searching on Google, Twitter, and HMV to find some singers I hadn’t previously heard of or hadn’t at least  heard many of their songs.

And while searching, Shawn Mendes’ new album ‘Illuminate’ popped up. I have listened to a few of his songs before such as ‘Stitches’, and ‘Treat You Better’, but I have usually listened to covers of the tracks rather than actually hearing Shawn sing them.

So, after seeing the LP pop up on my search, I opened up YouTube to search for some Shawn Mendes songs, and the first one I came across was his new single ‘Mercy’. And wow, that was all I really needed to listen to.

That song is incredible and his vocal ability is off the scale. For me he sounds kind of similar to Nick Jonas, who I love so that was a win, win.

Anyway, after watching a few more videos I decided to purchase, ‘Handwritten’, ‘Handwritten Revised’, and ‘Illuminate’, and boy am I glad I did. I have just finished listening to the three albums and I now consider myself a fully fledged Shawn Mendes fan.

For someone so young his writing ability is so mature, and his vocals are insane. I’m excited to hear more of his music in the future.

DNCE Deserve to Win Best Single at the BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards

I am beyond happy and proud that DNCE’s debut single ‘Cake By The Ocean’ has been nominated for ‘Best Single’ at this years BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards.

I am so glad that they are getting the recognition they deserve as the track is so fun and catchy, so I really hope they win.

They are up against some seriously tough competition tho, what with Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes, and Drake all being nominated in the same category.

But I really hope that DNCE come out on top as ‘Cake By The Ocean’ is such a quirky and unique track.

The really deserve this award as they have come so far in one short year!

You can vote for ‘Cake By The Ocean’ to win ‘Best Single’ at the 2016 BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards by visiting the official voting website or by tweeting Radio 1 on Twitter with the hashtag #R1VoteDNCE. Voting closes on Saturday October 8th at 4pm.

The winner will be announced live on the Teen Awards show on Sunday October 23rd.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that DNCE win the award.

Loving Ward Thomas’ ‘Stitches’ Cover

Is there anything Ward Thomas can’t do? The short answer is no.

The twin sisters Catherine and Lizzy have just released their fantastic cover version of Shawn Mendes’ massive hit single ‘Stitches’ and I am absolutely loving it.

These girls are currently turning everything they touch into gold and their latest Snug Session for their cover of ‘Stitches’ is no different.

The way their country tones blend into the pop chorus is fantastic and proves just how versatile they are.

I’m not gonna lie I would love for them to release their version as a single and I’m hoping that they perform it on their upcoming tour (I’m counting down the days until I see them live).

I am so proud of Ward Thomas and how far they have come, their latest singles ‘Carry You Home’, and ‘Guilty Flowers’ are performing so well on the country charts (both were number 1 hits), and their upcoming second album ‘Cartwheels’ is currently on the best selling list on Amazon-proving that they have a huge following.

I am expecting big things from the LP and I think it could be quite a big crossover hit! Perhaps charting in the top 20.

The future is looking brighter and brighter for my new music obsessions and I can’t wait to be a part of their exciting journey.
